I'm Benjamin Flores and I'm running to be Texas Land Commissioner in 2026
As Texas Land Commissioner, I’ll focus the General Land Office on its core mission: fund our public schools, help our veterans and protect our coastline.
I’ll make sure every available dollar goes where it’s needed, when it’s needed. I’ll prioritize getting money to public schools that need it and school districts to help them lower your property taxes.
I’ll improve and expand veteran home loan and support services – including outreach to inform veterans of the benefits available that they may not even be aware of – and work to reduce the burden of traveling long distances to receive assistance or medical treatment. This includes lobbying to get a VA Hospital in the RGV.
I’ll strengthen coastal and environmental protections, and improve programs that help for people and industries recover after storms — and make sure all recovery money is distributed fairly. This includes my promise to find FEMA relief money that never got to those who needed it in and around Houston and get it to them in my first 30 days in office.
I’ll invite more solar and wind energy producers to join the oil and gas companies operating on state land. This will increase the available energy on the electric grid quickly and in an environmentally conscious manner, meeting the needs of businesses today and tomorrow. Bringing in new producers will also increase and stabilize that revenue, allowing us to help school districts lower their property taxes and enhance veterans service programs.
And I’ll embrace innovation to maximize the use of state lands to benefit Texas. It’s all in my Plan.
There’s nothing Texans can’t do when we work together. Whether it’s increasing the funding to our schools or helping our veterans closer to where they live or protecting our coastline, my promise is to be the Land Commissioner who puts the needs of Texans First. Always.
